The Tamale Hut Cafe is a great place to eat out in North Riverside IL.  Jaime Flores–who owns and runs THC–uses a secret family recipe to make each tamale certifiably delicious.  The cafe is not only a great nosh, but it has also become a hot spot for the arts. THC hosts a regular, open mic reading series as well as a writer’s group.

This Winter, THC is sponsoring its first writing contests. I am one of the preliminary readers for this contest along with Timothy Moore and Alec Kerestesi. We’ll be reading prose of 500 to 1500 words. The final winners will be chosen by Robert Rodi, Tina Jens, and Regina Buccola. The top five pieces will take home cash prizes of up to $300. These winners will be announced at the June Tamale Hut Reading.

Submit your work! Participate in Chicago’s literary festivities! Win prizes! Eat tamales! There’s really no losing.
